We all know it. Tokyo = big city, bright lights, chaotic streets teeming with people, and ... sunny outdoor terraces? Surely some mistake?
In a city with more than 13 million inhabitants, a quiet sanctuary where you can do some quality people-watching or take in the view seems impossible -- but there are some genuinely excellent options if you know where to look.
Cast your doubts aside and head for the great (really) outdoors, though. Japan’s capital has a more-than-healthy spread of venues sporting European-standard al-fresco drinking and dining.
Most have variable opening hours, but unless noted are generally up and running from around 11 a.m. to midnight. Here are 10 of the best:
