Russell Crowe Gets A Helping Hand From Coast Guard

Russell Crowe had quite the adventure this weekend when he and a friend lost their way on a kayaking excursion.

The 48-year-old actor and a pal found themselves stranded on Saturday after getting lost near Long Island. But, Crowe and his pal had a little help from the United States Coast Guard.

US Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Swieciki said the two men got lost after the sun went down and beached their kayaks in Huntington Bay, which was about 10 miles east from where they left.

The US Coast Guard was patrolling the area, and heard Russell Crowe call out to them from the shore at around 10 p.m.

Swieciki stated, “He just needed a little bit of help, he just got a little lost. It wasn’t really a rescue, really, more of just giving someone a lift.”

The Coast Guard guys said the actor was friendly and grateful for their help.

Russell Crowe tweeted about the incident Sunday morning on Twitter, writing, “Thanks to Seth and the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way…4 hrs 30 mins, 7m(11.2km).”

Crowe later added, “We knew where exactly where we were, paddling around from csh into wind, we ran out of day. Grand adventure eh.”
